Controlled Directivity Loudspeaker

The new EP-3 (formerly called CS3 MK2) replaces our successful CS3.

The EP-3 represents the next generation in our dipole technology with its point source design. There is not a single part from the original CS3 in this new EP-3 upgraded version.

The EP-3 employs our new Emerald Physics EP12.1 custom 12” woofer/midrange and tweeter point source driver with 1” compression tweeter and external passive crossover.

The new Emerald Physics DSP2.4 electronic crossover/EQ provides DSP controlled subwoofer crossover and equalization for the system. Our controlled dispersion design eliminates most listening room anomalies, allowing the EP-3 to sound great in virtually all rooms.

With a powered subwoofer you can have a fully bi-amplified system that can fill almost any sized room with superb dynamics and bass into the 20Hz range.

Our beautiful new cosmetic is a major upgrade. Satin Black is standard. Custom finishes are be available at additional cost.

  • Single Amp drive - Does not require bi-amplification.
  • New Emerald Physics EP12.1 12" midrange with Emerald 1" tweeter point source driver
  • World Class sonic performance in a compact package.
  • Incredible imaging and soundstage reproduction.
  • World Class Bass speed and articulation.
  • Works well in small rooms as close as 2 feet from the rear wall.
  • Can be used with moderate stereo amps & integrated amps w/preout & main in.
  • Outboard hi pass crossover
  • Includes DSP 2.4 crossover/EQ which has subwoofer crossover for bass extension & adds the ability to play extremely loud in larger rooms.

At the AXPONA 2014 show part time audiophile said:
"Walter Liederman of Emerald Physics ought to be pleased with himself. He’s managed to shepherd to market a relatively affordable, reliably excellent, state-of-the-art audio experience in his Emerald Physics lineup."
"The speakers are also DSP-controlled, and while that gets you in the ballpark of acoustically optimal more often than not, is still looked askance by many. But the perception of downsides are all just that. Perceptions. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. And this is a tasty little dish."
"On the whole, this room was quite convincing. Walter was offering the entire system (minus the PS Audio DAC) at just under $6,000 as a show-special, trying to demonstrate how great sound doesn’t have to cost more than a BMW. I’d say he nailed it. The sound here was very dynamic, open and expressive.
The fact that this was one of the busiest rooms at the show says that I’m not alone in thinking this."

Packages are available with subwoofers from REL & Gallo

Here is what Audiophilia said of our CS3 MK2 at the Newport Show:
The day’s walkabout was a discovery of excellent sound (a couple in my Best Of), new kit and exhibitors bending over backwards to make your room visit fruitful. So accommodating. They were more than happy to give a quick precis or a lengthy tome about the topologies and designs.

"A speaker managed from Maui (the owner had a big smile on his face) and manufactured in Colorado caught my ear. Emerald Physics had their CS3 MK2 ‘Controlled Directivity Loudspeaker’ playing Handel harp concertos via a complete system, including Rel T9 powered subwoofers and their own electronics. The price for the speakers and subs was less than 5K. For that price, these speakers are an absolute steal and should be heard by any audiophile on a strict budget who wants Champagne sound. Dipole technology with point source design. No grain, no hash, well balanced and very dynamic were among my notes. And the two subs were integrated as well as any."
